Musee Heritage Museum

Alberta's oldest non-fortified community was established in 1861 as a Roman Catholic Mission. A Métis settlement quickly grew up around it. The land was divided into river lots, some of which still survive in today's modern City of St. Albert.

Beatrice Sutherland is a Woodland Cree. She makes moccasins, gloves, mukluks, and small beaded items out of moose hide that she tans using generations-old techniques. She also takes commissions for custom orders.

Okotoks Erratic

This quartzite boulder weighs about 16,500 tonnes, is nine metres tall, and 41 metres long by 18 metres wide. Between 10 and 18 thousand years ago, rockslides from the Rocky Mountains in the Jasper area deposited quartzite debris onto the top of a glacier. All the boulders were carried by ice along the mountain front and dropped as the glacier melted.
