Grouard-Peace River Trail

The Grouard-Peace River Trail is marked by history, connecting the west end of Lesser Slave to the Peave River. Originally used by Aboriginal peoples, the trail later became the chosen route of missionaries, gold-seekers, homesteaders and entrepreneurs.

Portions of the historic Grouard-Peace River trail and the original trail along the north shore of Lesser Slave Lake have been rebuilt as part of the Trans Canada Trail System. The trail is open from Big Point on Lesser Slave, west to Hilliard's Bay and Grouard, then north through the Police Point Natural Area and up to the Peavine Metis community. The trail can be accessed from the Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park, the community of Grouard, and the community of Peavine.

Grouard, AB
